Who is behind Earth Swarm
Earth Swarm is made by the Bureau of Machine Affairs, a company based in Twickenham, England. We built it so that the wildlife people record on their walks is checked, kept and counts.
The company
Earth Swarm is operated by Researchmatic Limited, trading as the Bureau of Machine Affairs, a company incorporated in England and Wales (company number 05121736), registered office 212 St. Margarets Road, Twickenham, TW1 1NP. Researchmatic Limited is the data controller for Earth Swarm; the privacy notice says what that covers.

What "built on Stringer" means
Stringer is our network for paying people to see things in the real world for someone else. Earth Swarm uses it to offer surveyors jobs and pay them. For each find, Stringer holds only a receipt: a hash, a time and a signature. It never holds the photo, the species or the position; those go only to Earth Swarm's evidence store.
Where we are
Earth Swarm is in a public test on iPhone. It is free. The changelog lists what we have shipped and when, and how it works explains how a find goes from your phone to the map.
