Earth Swarm
Changelog

What we have shipped

Earth Swarm changes every few days during the test. These are the changes you would notice, newest first.

Changes

  1. Ask your AI assistant about wildlife

Add Earth Swarm to Claude or ChatGPT and ask what has been found near a place, or how a species is doing season by season. How to add it.

  2. Your own record in your assistant

Once you sign in, your assistant can read your life list, your recent finds and your earnings. It can only read; it cannot change anything.

  3. The public test opens

iPhone users can join the public test through TestFlight. You can now record anywhere: outside the UK, finds are checked against GBIF's records. Recording also stays responsive when reception is patchy.

  4. A pocket field guide on your phone

Ask the app about any species and it answers on the phone itself, using Apple's on-device model.

  5. A licence for the public test

The licence says what you keep, what we may do with your finds, and that published records never show your name.

  6. Recently confirmed, place pages and finding your park

The map now lists the latest confirmed finds, every park and nature spot has its own page, and you can search for yours by name. Confirmed finds appear 6 hours after they were made. Species recorded near a place, from the NBN Atlas, now help a find confirm, and you can share a card of a find.

  7. The phone's model decides first

When the species model on the phone is all but certain and the photo is sharp, a find confirms straight away; otherwise it goes to a reviewer or to Help identify. A second AI opinion never confirms a find by itself.

  8. Jobs on marked paths

Every job spot in a reserve, wood, heath or meadow is now on a marked path, and parks from Ordnance Survey's open data and open access land became places you can record in.

  9. earthswarm.ai goes up

The first version of this site: the map of confirmed finds, with GBIF's records beside them for context.
