Ask your AI about wildlife
Add Earth Swarm to Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP assistant, and ask it what lives near you.
https://earthswarm.ai/mcp
No sign-in is needed for wildlife questions. It is free, and it uses the same records and the same privacy rules as this website.
Add it to your assistant
Claude app or claude.ai
- Open Settings (on some versions, Customize), then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Earth Swarm and paste the address above.
- Save it. Claude can now use Earth Swarm in your chats.
The free plan allows one custom connector.
ChatGPT
- On chatgpt.com, open Settings, then Connectors (on some plans this is under developer mode).
- Add a custom MCP server or connector.
- Name it Earth Swarm and paste the address above.
Whether you can add one depends on your ChatGPT plan.
Claude Code
Run this once in a terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http earthswarm https://earthswarm.ai/mcp
Any other MCP client: add the address as a remote (Streamable HTTP) server.
Things to ask
- What's flowering near Richmond Park this month?
- When is the best time to see a kingfisher near me?
- What has been confirmed on Earth Swarm in Bushy Park?
- Find me a nature reserve near Kingston for a walk this weekend.
- Are there any BioBlitz days near me in the next fortnight?
- How do I tell a song thrush from a mistle thrush?
When it asks you to sign in
No sign-in is needed for any wildlife question. Sign-in is only for your own record, if you record with the Earth Swarm app.
The first time you ask about your own finds, your assistant asks you to sign in. Use the email you use in the Earth Swarm app, and we send a code to it. The sign-in page is on stringer.run, which Earth Swarm runs on. Your assistant can then use three tools, all read only: it can look, and it can change nothing.
my_life_list: the species you have had confirmed, this year's count, your firsts and your weekly streak.my_recent_finds: your recent finds and whether each is confirmed yet.my_earnings: your cash, your tokens and this week's challenge.
Privacy
- Sensitive species stay protected. Your assistant is never told where a sensitive species was found, just as this website never shows it.
- Every answer says what it is. Finds confirmed on Earth Swarm are kept apart from national records from the NBN Atlas or GBIF, and every source is credited.
- Your records appear only when you sign in. Without sign-in, your assistant sees nothing of yours. With it, places are named, never pinpointed.
- You can stop it at any time. Remove the connector in your assistant, or disconnect it in the Stringer dashboard at stringer.run/dashboard, under Settings, then Connected apps. Either way it stops at once.
